We recently ran a lovely workshop as part of the Ovington Trees Project - see here. Starting with a short walk along the hedges along the nearby field we then came back to begin our journals.
We followed the same format as many of my previous workshops and, of course, this involved some stories about nature, slugs and sextant beetles being at the heart of this.
At the beginning there was some reluctance to draw slugs but this soon changed once we got into how fascinating these creatures are. And, so interesting to draw too.
Apart from learning about the Ovington Trees project which aims to increase the overall tree stock in Ovington Village and surrounding areas we also learned to appreciate the small nature around us that often goes un-noticed. and the above picture shows a lovely record of some of this nature.
