I will show you how to represent the wildlife you see, tell the story and develop your practice of seeing and recording nature. I have many years of nature journals to share with you and I will provide a mini journal to get you started.
We will look at some examples of some of the techniques that I use and these will form the reference for us to draw together. I will talk to you about the simple act of looking with purpose and then drawing with accuracy what you see. I am often told “but I can’t draw” - we will put this to the test and will show you that in fact you CAN draw. And keeping a journal is a great way of developing the habit of looking and drawing and, your journal, as well as being a record of observations will track your improvement in drawing too.
We will also look at the materials and different pens and inks that I recommend. Your mental health could also be improved by this regular, purposeful activity as well as being a useful scientific record of nature observations.
There is no charge and no booking required. Please be aware that there are only a few seats around the table. Families welcome - but no children unattended please.
I will be running more formal workshops on Saturday afternoons, once a month - these will be limited to 12 people per workshop and booking will be through the Queens Hall Arts Centre box office and website.. I will add some dates on the website soon.
